Our advice is to wash it regularly as you would with any deck with fresh or saltwater using only a soft brush. Once or twice a year it is recommended you clean teak boat decking with a specialist teak deck cleaner. Follow the manufacturers’ directions and make sure you gently scrub across the direction of the grain.
Does epoxy stick to teak?
Teak is a naturally oily wood. Your best choice for bonding teak is G/flex 650 or G/flex 655 epoxy. Abrade the teak’s surface with 60-grit sandpaper, then thoroughly wipe the surfaces with paper towels and alcohol or solvent immediately before bonding.

Sanding will make teak decks as smooth as possible within the limits of safe traction underfoot. If both the teak deck and caulk seams are thin, do not sand the teak deck because it has reached the end of its useful life. Sanding will only lead to more caulk seam failures.

The reason we do not recommend pressure washing when cleaning teak furniture is that the fine stream and high pressure can cause the surface of the teak furniture to become bumpy and pitted. Once that happens, the teak furniture will have to be sanded to return the surface it to its natural smooth finish.
